My Friend Frank - Non-Fiction - Rewrite
personal interest - memoir

I met
Frank on May 8, 2008. Our friendship literally altered my life. I want the world to know his story.

My Friend Frank is a true story about a man who impacted the lives of his co-workers and me by his courage and character while facing pancreatic cancer. Frank was a husband, father, co-worker, and confidant who in 2008 moved his family from Madagascar to the United States in order for them to have a better life. Frank touched the hearts of all who knew him with his quiet grace and strong work-ethic. My hope is that the story of Frank will be an inspiration to all who read it.

My Friend Frank is not just another story about a cancer victim. Frank’s journey will challenge and encourage you as you read of his life and legacy.

A REVIEW OF FRANK'S STORY

"Living in a world of seemingly endless dissension, we often forget that the human spirit is capable of great endurance, generosity, and compassion. In My Friend Frank, Ken Wingate reminds us that these qualities are essential to a life well-lived and that life is a journey that must be shared. His book testifies to the goodness of a friend who gives much and who receives much more in return. I strongly encourage you to read his story if you are seeking meaning and inspiration for yourself and for those around you."

*I am excited to announce that George Papadakis will be providing the artwork for the cover of My Friend Frank. He will produce a portrait of Frank in his popular mixed-media art format. You can view a selection of George's work here. Below is the latest update of Frank's portrait.

"Most people are destined to accomplish three tasks in their lives. They must first develop a personality through which they can find contentment. The character by which the world will see them and know them. Then they must choose a profession that will fulfill their intellectual desires. A craft that will bring them fulfillment and completeness. Finally, they will need to find a purpose to fulfill their spiritual longing. This is that thing within that addresses the convictions of their heart and establishes the legacy they will leave to this world. Personality, profession, and purpose. No small tasks. For many, these tasks create a life of constant striving and struggling for acceptance.

Then, there are a select few, who through gift or lineage are born to a life that is destined from their first breath. Their personality, profession, and purpose seem to be inbred in them as soon as they leave their mother’s womb. It is a destiny that they neither choose nor reject. It is so natural for them to be who they are; they simply embrace it and allow it to guide them through their years. Though many would, they do not look at it as a burden. Though many would, they do not see it as a prison. Though many would, they do not dread its structured life. It is simply who they are, and, in it, they are totally complete."
